Through the efforts and donations of many, Materna Foundation was able to support more than 600 mothers of infants in El Salvador in the Summer of 2023.
We are so grateful to our volunteers who joined us: Delani Smith, Emi Handley, Gabbi Handley, Emma Winegar, Samantha Hale, Jimena Hale, and Irma Dominguez. They were able to visit hospitals and community health centers, teach workshops to our students in our Better Opportunities program, and learn how to support families living in poverty.
We were also joined by Dr. Angela Lober (PhD, MPH, RN, IBCLC) and Ashley Brubaker (LMSW, PMH-C, BHP) from the ASU Breastfeeding Clinic, who contributed valuable input to improve our programs and collaborated to support mothers and infants with difficult medical conditions and breastfeeding struggles. The mothers we support are our number one priority, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to serve them and continue to improve the work we do through collaboration with talented and knowledgeable experts in the fields of maternal and infant care.
